a deep blue-purple color, named in commemoration of Cardinal Mazarin since the 18th century

Other Uses of Mazarine:
– A species of butterfly, Polyommatus semiargu, is known as the Mazarine Blue
– Mazarine Bible – the first Bible, and perhaps the first complete book, printed with movable metal types; – printed by Gutenberg at Mentz, 1450-55. It is called the Mazarine Bible because a copy was found in the Mazarine Library in Paris around 1760.
– A forcemeat entrée.
